One Fine Day

One fine day, Max woke up. He was happy today, because it was Sunday. Max loved to sleep in on weekends because there was no school bus coming to his house on those days. Max had a quick glance at his clock and it read out “9:00am”. Max decided to go to sleep again. He woke up an hour and a half later, confused about what was real and what was not because he had a strange dream. Since he did not know the time, he had another look at his clock. It read out “10:30am”. This time, he actually got out of bed and went downstairs. His mother was there and greeted him. She was flipping a pancake on a pan. Pancakes were Max’s favourite food along with maple syrup. Max sat down at the dining table, in which his dad and sister were there. His dad was reading a newspaper and said to Max, “Morning Max!” in a very cheerful mood. All while his sister was watching on her phone. A few long minutes later, which felt like going through the ancient times all the way to our modern society, he finally got 4 pancakes stacked on top of each, with a nice amount of maple syrup on it. “I gave you an extra 2 because you have behaved so wonderfully over the past week.” said Mum, very delighted with Max. Still baffled by his dream he had, he asked, “Are you sure I am not dreaming or is this real?” “Um.. No.. I don’t think so it’s a dream.” replied Mum, giving Max a weird look wondering what Max was talking about. Max very happily and a bit greedily gobbled down his pancakes at an astonishing rate. His mother, father and sister stopped what they were doing and silently stared at him as if he was going to eat them alive. When he finished, he ended it off with a burp of satisfaction. He washed his dishes and then went upstairs, to who knows what next. I think it might be sleeping.
